Hello and welcome……
i’m Emily
It’s curious to me when I look back on my life so far, how despite it’s many twists and turns, the fundamental themes have never really changed since I was very small. My love and empathy for people and their stories, my connection to the land, nature and animals, particularly dogs have remained consistant. I always knew that my path would be one of support, both for humans and animals. I began my therapy training in my early twenties, but as I became a mother of four, my focus shifted to raising my children alongside my pack of dogs. My life, like many others, has been touched by trauma and in 2000, it became clear to me that my calling was to support others experiencing the impact of trauma on their lives.
Though I had grown up around yoga it wasn’t until the birth of my eldest son around that same time that I really discovered if for myself. Yoga felt like a way of returning home to myself and became a profound support in my everyday life and a means to process some of my own held trauma. I eventually trained as a yoga teacher and pursued extensive yoga, mindfulness and meditation trainings, allowing me to offer yoga therapeutically. This journey ultimately led me to complete my training in Integrative psychotherapy, creating a more expansive and cohesive container for my therapeutic work.
Throughout my personal, spiritual and professional life I have been fortunate to be supported by many Elder woman who have been integral to my journey and learnings, shaping who I am in ways both seen and unseen. Their wisdom and presence have been a huge support for me leaving a lasting legacy of commitment to supporting Elders in my communities, ensuring they receive the care, respect and connection they deserve.
Living rurally in Scotland, I remain in deep relationship with my land and the Celtic wisdom traditions held here. I am forever grateful for the seasons, and nature’s lessons, reminders and support in my every day. Having developed lasting connection with the lands of the first nation people of north America, and the Lakota tradition, I am guided and supported by their sacred values. Finally, my beloved family, dear friends and magnificent dogs sit in the centre of my world, guiding me always with love and in to the ordinary place of my existance.
My Approach
Whether offering therapy, sharing a yoga practice, holding a circle or supporting an elder, my intentions although they adapt, essentially remain the same. To create a space for people to be seen, and where possible heard, to curate an experience that provides access to regulation and rest, whilst offering enough safety to explore some of the more uncomfortable held experiences and sensations, with the intention to bear witness and ultimately integrate.
The practices and the spaces are locations where people are encouraged to come in absolutely as they are, with all that exists in that time for them. With the support of place and land, and within the ancestral constellations and experiential fields that surround us, it is my belief that we enter in to an act of remembrance finding our way back to our true nature.
Guided by both the Celtic and Lakota wisdom traditions, and rooted in the land and in nature my intention is to support individuals and communities navigating modern life to find ease and belonging.
